Skrillex and Rick Ross have finally dropped their much-anticipated music video forPurple Lamborghini, which, as promised, stars Jared Leto reprising his role as The Joker from this weekend’s big releaseSuicide Squad. The actor once again got into costume to shoot all-new scenes for this short. The song is the featured track from the soundtrack release, which hits stores today, August 5th.
The music video featuresThe Jokerentering a seedy nightclub whereSkrillexand Rick Ross are performing on stage. He encounters some questionable individuals on his way to a good resting place. But theClown Princeis on edge, dressed in his signature tuxedo. At one point he comes face-to-face with Rick Ross, patting the big man on the shoulder as if to say, ‘You’re alright in my book!’
But as we soon see, this nightclub, which features a room full of hanging knives, has become a crime scene, squared off in yellow tape. Midway through the cut, we get to see a fleet of lowriders, but a Purple Lamborghini is not amongst them. The Joker is never seen in the car of the title either. And it should be noted that while some have mistaken his ride in the movie for a Purple Lamborghini, the villain’s hot rod is actually a kit car called a Vaydor, and it was designed by Matt McEntegart of Vaydor Exotics in Florida. Instead of showing up in this famed four-wheeled terror, The Joker is instead seen riding on the front of a speed boat.
The lead single off theSuicide Squadsoundtrack was a song called ‘Heathens’ byTwenty One Pilots. The soundtrack itself contains 14 songs and is a fine mix of old and new titles that should get fans excited and pumped for this release. The soundtrack is accompanied by a separate release containing composer Steven Price’s full score.
Lil' Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors) deliver the second song off theSuicide Squadsoundtrack, titled ‘Sucker for Pain’, and it is followed by ‘Standing in the Rain’ by Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) (feat. Mark Ronson). Kehlani brings ‘Gangsta’ to the table, along with Kevin Gates' ‘Know Better’ and Grace’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’ which features a special appearance by G-Eazy. The first track on the second side of this record is owned by Eminem, with the song ‘Without Me’. Skylar Grey delivers ‘Wreak Havoc’. And Grimes brings in ‘Medieval Warfare’. Panic! At The Disco are responsible for a song that has been heavily used in the trailers and TV spots and is one of the selling points of the album with a thumping cover of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. The classic tune ‘Slippin Into Darkness’ by War also makes an appearance alongside popular 60s Vietnam song ‘Fortunate Son’ by Creedence Clearwater Revival. And the climax of the album is a cover of ‘I Started a Joke’ by ConfidentialMX (feat. Becky Hanson).
