Unfortunately, the legendary Jacob Holland, voiced by Karl Urban, isn’t very enthusiastic about her inclusion on the trip. Throughout the movie, we will see the relationship that develops between the two characters. The trailer for the Netflix film can be found below.
We get a glimpse of the massive sea monsters that infest the waters beyond the shore and the threat they pose to Jacob Holland’s crew. However, Maisie isn’t afraid of the danger and looks up to Urban’s character as a fearless role model. The official synopsis for the trailer reads:

In an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland. But when young Maisie Brumble stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history.

Who’s Involved With The Sea Beast?
Aside from Karl Urban and Zaris-Angel Hator, several high-profile actors are making their way to the Netflix film. Among them are Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Marianne Jean Baptiste (Without a Trace), and Kathy Burke (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).
The movie is helmed by Chris Williams, who has experience with animated projects. Williams directedBig Hero 6,the 2014 film following a plus-sized inflatable robot and the bond formed with prodigy Hiro Hamada. He also co-directedMoana, the 2016 Disney movie that shares a striking resemblance toThe Sea Beast. In an interview withVariety, Williams said, “The Sea Beastis the kind of story I’ve always wanted to take on. It’s a tale of high adventure where our hero leaves the known world and ventures out into uncharted waters. As it turns out, I’m doing the same thing.”
