Kelsey Grammeris returning to the role of Frasier Crane for aFrasierrevival on Paramount+, and hopefully, by now, he’s figured out what to do with those tossed salad and scrambled eggs. It’s been nearly two full decades since Grammer last signed off as Frasier, which ended its 11-season run in 2004. In recent years, Grammer had been working to get a revival off the ground, and it was announced last year that it was officially happening at Paramount+. Filming on the first season has since been completed andmay potentially premiere on the streaming platformthis fall.

So why was Grammer trying so hard to revisitFrasier, leading to this revival series happening? In a new interview withThe Times, he explains how he’s not so different from his Frasier Crane character, and it was perhaps inevitable for the two to have their paths cross again later in life. Along with continuing to relate to the character, Grammer also remembers how much he entertained audiences by playing him, and he’s looking to make people laugh as Frasier again with the revival.

Frasier and Niles in Poster for Frasier

“He’s lived a kind of a parallel life with me. Now we’ve found our way back to one another. This character, who is obviously fictional, has a life outside of mine that is just as believable and palpable as the one I’ve actually lived —and I’m good at playing him. We were funny together.”

Frasier Crane moves back to Boston in the revival series, and with that change in location also comes a new cast of characters. One of thenew stars of the show is Nicholas Lyndhurst, who plays a former college pal of Frasier’s in the revival. Grammer also spoke about his co-star and how excited he is for fans to see how wonderful Lyndhurst is with the role.

“Nick and I fell in love when we were doingMan of La Manchatogether [at the London Coliseum in 2019]. I warned them in America. I said, ‘Wait until this guy gets here. You’ll be doing a scene with him and suddenly you realise he’s just run off with it.’ He’s an extraordinary actor, a dear friend. And I am so pleased he’s part of it.”

If the series continues beyond one season, guest appearances from David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves, respectively as Niles and Daphne, also seem possible.
