If everything goes according to plan,Kingsman 2will shoot this spring. But there is a major problem that needs to be worked out first.Kingsman: The Secret ServicestarTaron Egertonhas become a hot commodity in Hollywood following the film’s release earlier this year, and he is being sought by some of the biggest studios for quite a few high priority projects. He’s actually landed one of these projects, and it could cause a scheduling issue for 20th Century Fox and it’s impendingsequel.

Taron Egertonis set to leadRobin Hood: Originsfor Lionsgate, which is going to start shooting this February. The film likely won’t be wrapped by the time Fox wants production to begin onKingsman 2. Right now, it looks like there will be a conflict with the sequel’s start date. But the hope is this issue can be resolved soon.

There may be a bigger issue facingKingsman 2, though. A script for the sequel has not yet been written. And as of this past week, it has not yet been decided ifKingsmanstarColin Firthwill return, or how he may fit into the story. It’s suspected thatMatthew Vaughnwill return to direct, and he is currently working on a draft of the screenplay. It’s believed that this sequel will include an American version of the BritishKingsman agency. IfMatthew Vaughnreturns, it will be the first sequel he’s directed to one of his films. He skipped out onKick-Ass 2, didn’t want to doX-Men: Days of Future Past, and as far as we know, he has no plans to direct any of theViva La MadnessTV episodes, based on his directorial debutLayer Cake.

Kingsman: The Secret Serviceand theKingsman 2sequel are based on the popular comic book series created in 2012 by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar, released through Icon Comics as a miniseries. The story follows a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. The original film stars Academy Award winnersColin FirthandMichael Cainealongside Academy Award nomineeSamuel L. Jackson,Mark Strongand newcomersTaron Egerton,Sofia Boutellaand Sophie Cookson. Scripted by Vaughn and Jane Goldman,Kingsman: The Secret Servicegrossed over $412 million at the global box office. It isn’t known which of the surviving characters, and their accompanying actor, will return aside fromTaron Egerton’sEggsy.

Leonardo DiCapriois producingRobin Hood: Origins, andTaron Egerton’s production scheduling conflict is being compared to what happened withJennifer Lawrenceon The Hunger Games and X-Men, again coming from Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox. Since they’ve handled this type of overlap before, they are suspected to figure out a plan that works for both studios and the actor. Fox’s option on the actor puts the studio in the lead, which means, if things aren’t worked out between the studios, it is actuallyRobin Hood: Originsthat will have to stall, or find a new lead. That said, the Robin Hood reboot is further along in production, and is currently filling out its roster of Merry Men.
