In just a few short days, AMC’sThe Walking Deadreturns with its long-awaited Season 7 premiere, where fans will finally learn who the nefariousNegankilled at the end of the Season 6 cliffhanger. While we wait for the truth to be revealed, AMC has unveiled a new preview whereJeffrey Dean Morgantalks about portraying such a despicable character. While most of the TV roles he’s had in the past have been characters that people have liked, he knows that most fans will truly hate Negan, if they don’t already. If that wasn’t enough, we also have a new photo of King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and his pet tiger Shiva.
This new preview fromAMCdoesn’t include any new footage fromThe Walking Dead Season 7, although we do get to revisit scenes from Negan’s introduction in the Season 6 finale, whileJeffrey Dean Morganoffers his thoughts on this character. The actor teases that we have never seen the main cast in such a vulnerable place before, while breaking down some “striking similarities” between Rick and Negan. While the actor admits that Negan is more “outward” in his brutality, he recalled a scene where Rick “ripped someone’s throat out with his teeth,” referring to a Season 4 scene where Rick killed Joe (Jeff Kober).
Jeffrey Dean Morganalso teased that, since he was a big fan of both the show and the original comics byRobert Kirkman, he had “a pretty good idea” of how to portray Negan, and even though no one stopped what he was doing, he added that it’s “tricky” bringing this character to life. He also added that he’s never had more fun in playing Negan inThe Walking Dead Season 7. While there have been several theories about who Negan’s victim really is, there have been other reports that could hint at multiple victims.
Last month, executive producer/directorGreg Nicoteroteased during an interview that there will bemultiple deathsin the Season 7 premiere. We don’t know for sure if Negan actually kills more than one person while all of Rick’s crew is lined up, or if the other deaths happen later in the episode. Regardless of who is actually killed, all of the potential victims will be appearing live onTalking Deadright after the premiere.
