The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning comedy seriesCurb Your Enthusiasm, starringLarry David, will return to HBO for its ninth season, it was announced today byCasey Bloys, president, HBO programming. Back in September,Curb Your EnthusiasmproducerJeff Schafferrevealed that he had met withLarry Davidabout doing both a new season of the comedy series, and a movie. A few months before that, HBO programming presidentMichael Lombardoteased that he ran intoLarry Davidhimself, who teased that a new season ofCurbis in fact coming. It’s been five years sinceCurb Your Enthusiasm Season 8aired on HBO.
It isn’t clear which ofLarry David’s supporting cast members will be back for Season 9.Jeff Garlinis the only other cast member to appear in all 80 episodes of the series, aside fromLarry David, whileCheryl Hinesis the only other cast member to have starred in every season of the show. Over the years there have been a number of additions to the cast, includingSusie Essman,Richard Lewis,Bob Einstein,J.B. SmooveandTed Danson.
Season 8 broughtLarry David’s character back to his hometown of New York City, but we don’t know for sure yet if he will stay in the Big Apple or return to Los Angeles this season. It hasn’t been confirmed yet if this will be thefinal seasonof HBO’shit sitcom, or if HBO is also developing aCurbmovie, as previously rumored.
