Linda Hamilton, the actor best known for playing Sarah Connor in theTerminatorfranchise, has talked aboutTerminator: Dark Fate, the controversial sequel that saw her reprise the iconicactioncharacter for the first time in 28 years.Dark Fatewas not exactly well-received by fans, and it bombed at the box office. Six years later, Hamilton candidly offers her opinion on the sequel. She hadaddressed the “John Connor arc"in the past, which is one of the reasons the film had a negative response. But now Hamilton has said that the return of her character deserved stronger writing.
The actor spoke to Comic Book during the promotion ofResident AlienSeason 4, the latest entry in the Syfy comedy sci-fi series. Hamilton reflected on her experience inthe sequel directed by Tim Miller(Deadpool), and co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger:
“There were some really significant, maybe… emotional moments in the last one that I wish we had lingered over a little bit more. It was kind of underwritten, and I think Tim didn’t feel that some of it was structured properly… I just wish it had slowed down a tiny bit and presented our fans with just a few more moments of humanity.”

Linda Hamilton has reiterated that she is “done” with her role as Sarah Connor in the Terminator franchise, and doesn’t see why it needs rebooting.
Hamilton also reflected on her character’s legacy. Sarah Connor has long been considered a staple of the action genre, especially among female action heroes. Connor is the ultimate badass, and her snub at the Oscars forher performance inTerminator 2: Judgment Dayis still a matter of discussion. Per Hamilton’s comments:
“Well, I’ve always been surprised at the numbers that want to be like Sarah Connor. I’m sure that the physicality that I portrayed in the second one had a lot to do with that — just the physique as well as the physicality — but she’s a very, very unhappy woman, right? I mean, she’s struggling with so many unknowns, and it’s just like, ‘No, you don’t want to be like Sarah Connor. She’s a woman in hell.’ So that has always fascinated me, the way that people want to emulate her. But she’s just a woman living in hell.”
Is ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ the Worst Film in the ‘Terminator’ Franchise?
Despite Hamilton’s subtle disapproval of the film,Terminator: Dark Fateis not the worstTerminatorfilm. Opinions vary on the entire franchise and everyone’s allowed to have their opinion. However, in the franchise created by James Cameron in the ’80s, there’s a clear winner for “worst entry.”
When navigating through the franchise, it’s hard to argue against 2015’sTerminator Genisysbeing the worst of them all. The film was critically panned upon release and today, it sits at 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though commercially it was one of the most successful in the franchise, plans for a new trilogy were canceled. That was untilDark Fatearose as the legacy sequel that would fix the franchise by bringing back Connor. It wasn’t like that, of course, and the film effectively ended the franchise, which remains dormant.Well, for now.
