It’s official,Lizzois heading to Springfield as the newest cast member ofThe Simpsons. PerEntertainment Weekly, it’s been revealed that Lizzo will be guest starring in the season finale of the show’s current 34th season. She’ll be voicing not just an animated version of herself, but also a “Happy Little Elf” character, and first look images have been revealed. The episode, called “Homer’s Adventure Through the Windshield Glass,” will air on May 14th. Ahead of the episode, you can get your first look at theSimpsonsversion of Lizzo below.
The guest appearance came to be because Lizzo is a big fan ofThe Simpsons. The show’s producers extended an offer for her to guest star once they heard about this, and she was quick to sign on. While she primarily voices a fictional character for the show, the producers have also revealed that Lizzo, as herself, also appears in a “behind-the-scenes recording session” with the Simpson family. She even uses her Sasha Flute to jam with Lisa (Yeardley Smith).

“Obviously, she’s an incredible flautist and she brought her flute to the record session, and that was incredible to watch her play,” executive producer Tim Long observed. “She ends up jamming with Lisa. And what’s funny is that Lizzo is such a bigSimpsonsfan, she ad-libbed the line, ‘I’m gonna get my Sasha Flute and you grab your saxamaphone and let’s jam.’ Saxamaphone is such a deep-cut reference toThe Simpsonsthat we were all like, ‘Wow.’ She knew all theSimpsonsreferences. She recorded with Dan Castellaneta [who voices Homer] and I think everyone was starstruck — us by Lizzo and her by Dan. That was really special.”

Lizzo Has Two Roles in the Episode
The episode is said to be inspired by two classic stoies, Ambose Bierce’sAn Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridgeand Jorge Luis Borges’The Secret Miracle. It takes place entirely in the span of the few second that Homer Simpson is flying through his car windshield after a car accident, during which point he has a vision of a happy little elf doll voiced by Lizzo. Long says that the character serves as Homer’s spirit guide for this journey, which even includes performing a song that Lizzo personally wrote.
“The song is called, ‘It Was Marge, Bitch,’ and the bitch in question is Homer,” Long reveals. “I can’t give you too much context without giving you too much story, but it is really in her wheelhouse — and she sang the hell out of it.”
The Simpsonsairs new episodes on Sunday nights with Lizzo’s episode scheduled for July 01, 2025.
