While it seems like we just got to the bottom of the mystery on the original show, aPretty Little Liarsreboot series is on the way. Based on the novel series by Sara Shepard, Pretty Little Liars featured Lucy Hale as part of an ensemble cast alongside Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, and Janel Parrish. It aired on Freeform from 2010-2017 for a total of seven seasons, and after experimenting with spinoffs, the reboot seriesPretty Little Liars: Original Sinwas announced last year.

For her part,Lucy Haleis still processing thatPretty Little Liarsis getting rebooted. This leaves her in a situation where she’s there to give advice to a new generation, and perhaps it just doesn’t seem like it’s already been more than a decade since that original show premiered. Speaking with TVLine, here’s what Hale had to say to the incoming cast, adding that she’s excited to see how it goes, as she’s not involved with the reboot and really doesn’t know.

“Oh my God, it’s so depressing that I already have to give advice to a new generation. [laughs] But I think it’s great. It’s an honor that they want to continue the legacy ofPretty Little Liars. Like, how cool is that? I also know Bailee Madison, who’s in the show, and I adore her. I’ll always support other artists and actors, no matter what the venture is. I think it’s important that we do that, because there’s not enough of that. And I’m as curious as anyone to see what they’re going to do with it.”

Hale then goes on to reveal the advice she has for the new cast members. Whenthis new seriesdebuts, it could transform their whole lives for the better. She would encourage them to enjoy the moment rather than always stressing over what was coming next, because before they know it, the whole thing could be over.

“I have a feeling their lives are about to drastically change, like ours did. When I was doingPretty Little Liars, I was always thinking about the next year. I was never in the moment, so I missed a lot of the little moments. We were worrying about things we shouldn’t be worrying about. It’s very vague, but my advice is just to enjoy it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. People are going to love you guys, and I’m definitely going to be watching. All the love to everyone involved.”

ThePretty Little Liarsreboot isin development at HBO Max. It comes from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon and comes with the tagline, “New town. New secrets. New Little Liars.” That would seem to suggest that this will be an all-new mystery to explore rather than retreading the same material from the books and the previous TV series. It’s also been reported that this new series will share the same universe as the original show and its spinoffs. You can check out the official logline below, per Deadline.

“Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — finds themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago, as well as their own.”

SettingPretty Little Liars: Original Sinin the same canon as the first show is interesting as it opens the door to tie the story into what happened onPretty Little Liars. This also means that Lucy Hale and other original actors could potentially show up for special appearances, although it sounds like Hale hasn’t yet gotten that call if that’s something that’s going to happen for her. In any case, for the fans who loved watching the original show, it may be worth checking out this new take onHBO Max. This news comes to us fromTVLine.
