Prime Video has finally released the first teaser forBallard, the new spin-off from the ever-popularBoschfranchise, which stars Maggie Q as LAPD Detective Renée Ballard. The 60‑second sizzle reel for the upcoming series packs in plenty of tension, chases, fist-fights, and a late‑breaking cameo that locks in what fans always suspected: Titus Welliver’s Harry Bosch will show up “have a word” with the franchise’s newest recruit.
The trailer opens with the LAPD’s self-proclaimed “punching bag” attempting to find some career redemption by taking on the cold cases of the city, but it is not going to be a walk in the park for the intrepid detective. From Ballard’s ominous appraisal of her own career, and the public view of the department, a burst of quick-cut scenes gives everyone a taste of the action they will be getting in the series as Maggie Q’s detective disarms suspects, pulls guns in downtown Los Angeles, and gets some face time with the one and only Harry Bosch.

Everything We Know About the ‘Bosch’ Ballard Spinoff
‘Bosch: Legacy’ may be ending, but a new Bosch story is just around the corner.
WhileBosch: Legacyends with its third season, the finale of which also acts as an introduction of Maggie Q’s Ballard, it was never in doubt that the new detective on the block – at least in terms of the TV universe – would be getting a visit from Welliver’s well-worn “retired” Harry Bosch. While it is unclear how big Welliver’s role in the new series will be, Ballard’s quip of “Harry f-cking Bosch” really sets the tone for their reunion. Of course, Bosch and Ballard have been teaming up in the books of Michael Connelly for years, which is why this new series was always going to be the next chapter in theBoschuniverse.

Could Harry Bosch Return in His Own Project?
Renée Ballard first appeared in Michael Connelly’s 2017 novelThe Late Show, designed as a contemporary counterpoint to Bosch’s old‑school instincts. It is clear that the dynamic between the pair will be fully on display when they come together in the new series. While many were disappointed with the announcement thatBosch: Legacywould be ending after just three seasons,Ballardseems like it is shaping up to be a worthy successor, and will keep Welliver’s Bosch in our lives a little longer.
However, Welliver himself doesn’t believe that his time as Bosch is ending anytime soon. As well as his appearances inBallard, the actorrecently told MovieWeb’s George Edelmanthat he fully believes there is more story to be told, and that could lead to a feature outing for former detective Harry Bosch. He said:

" Even if we were given a last season… Harry’s not getting killed, and he’s not riding off into the sunset. That’s not the way he rolls. Michael Connelly and I, and Henrik Basten and Tom Benarda…we’ll do something. I mean, this is a relationship that spans a decade, and we don’t want it to end. And if it’s not going to be Bosch, it’s going to be something else."
Bosch: Legacy’s series finale airs July 07, 2025, while the new series, Ballard, will come to Prime Video this summer.
