David O. Russell’sAmsterdamfeatures one of the best ensemble casts in recent memory, including talented actors such as Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington in the lead roles. However, the side characters boast just as much star power, withMike Myersbeing one such actor to appear in the film. We finally got a good look at his character, Paul Canterbury, in anew clip releasedby 20th Century Studios, and fans can only hope he has a prominent role throughout the film.

“Drinks on me… literally,” Canterbury says after meeting with the three main characters. The film follows a trio of friends who, after witnessing a murder, are framed for it and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. It’s assumed this clip takes place after the murder, as Robbie’s character, Valerie Voze, asks for help from Canterbury. He brings a box of glass eyes for Bale’s Burt Berendsen before receiving a splash to the face from a man calling him a cheat. The full clip can be found below.

Christian Bale Loved Working With His Co-Stars

Christian Bale has worked with endless talent across his illustrious career. However, during an interview withScreenRant, Bale spoke about working with co-stars and why he loved John David Washington despite not being familiar with his career thus far.

“Yeah, they’re both absolutely stellar, wonderful actors, and they’re playing incredible characters. Margot is this force of nature, and Valerie is a force of nature,” Bale explains. “Valerie is based on these various artists; these Dada artists of the era. And JD’s at a wonderful place, because he’s an incredibly experienced actor and has great life experience as well. We’re starting to see more of him, but you don’t know much about him—or at least I don’t yet.” He continues, saying he loves Washington’s character and the friendship pact they’ve created inAmsterdam. “And so it’s such a delight to watch him in this film, and just see him as Harold. It’s been a real pleasure to work with the two of them and create this triangle of friends who have a pact, and have a friendship that I think most people are going to watch and go, ‘I want to have that friendship.'”

Christian Bale is a frequent collaborator with David O. Russell, as the pair have worked on a few films, includingAmerican HustleandThe Fighter. Now, we may see more of Bale, Robbie, and Washington, as their chemistry seems outstanding followingAmsterdam. Fans can see the film, available next Friday, Oct. 7, in theaters.
