Having spent large parts of that movie performing exactly the kind of stunts that would be expected of whoever next slips into the suit of Bond, he does seem to have what it takes when it comes to the action side of the role.
Fans have certainly put some weight behind the casting suggestion on social media, and insiders have claimed (viaThe Daily Mail) that Martin has already had “under the radar” talks with Eon about potentially taking on the role. The source was quoted as saying:
“He is in serious contention. No-one will confirm this because Eon goes all out to deny and shy away from anything concerning casting, but it would be an amazing milestone to have a Scottish Bond again. And let’s not forget, Eon doesn’t give a damn whether the man who lands the job is famous or not. It is about getting the man they want and who they feel is best suited for this life changing experience. It is more pressure, scrutiny and stress than any other movie role.’
