Monday night saw the first reactions to the long awaited return of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt arrive following the premiere ofMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. General audiences still have a few weeks to wait to see Cruise’s action hero back on the big screen with some mind-busting stunts and a deep, dark story to boot. While many film franchises have delivered everything they possibly can by the time a sixth or seventh movie is added to the franchise, this particular one has very much made it a Mission: Possible to not see diminishing returns as the story continues on.
Dead Reckoningis just one of the movies that has suffered numerous delays thanks to the fallout of the Covid pandemic shutdowns. After having its release date pushed back with other summer releases likeThe Flashand the upcomingIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, it seems that the movie could well have been worth the wait…something thatTom Cruiseis no stranger to seeing with his movies after the success ofTop Gun: Mavericklast year.
Whether heaping praise on Cruise or his co-star Hayley Atwell, the “heart elevating” stunts or the sheer spectacle of the opening chapter of the two part story, it seems that Cruise is set to have another big summer blockbuster on his hands this year. Check out the reactions below.

Mission: Impossible 7 Delivers Some Big, but Difficult to Shoot Stunts.
There are very few people who do not know that if you are going to see a new movie with Tom Cruise in it, the chances are that it will contain a number of visually stunning stunts courtesy of its lead star. While there are many movies that will happily settle for CGI battle scenes and digital representations of actors when it comes to their biggest and most thrilling action set pieces, that isn’t how Cruise and M:I director Christopher McQuarrie roll.
Although the end result is certainly a crowd pleaser, McQuarrie has recently suggested that if he has known the difficulty of some of the stunts they have managed to pull off inEthan Hunt’s latest mission, he may have thought twice about doing them. He said:
“We’re making a movie that involves sequences that they just don’t shoot practically anymore, and haven’t in a long, long time. The sequence that we’re shooting right now is no exception. And like most things on Mission: Impossible, if we had known what the challenges were when we started out, we would never have done it.”
Although there was a strong belief that the two-partDead Reckoningwould be the final time Tom Cruise would be playing Ethan Hunt, it seems that may not be the case. McQuarrie has already noted that there areideas being discussed for a ninth movie, but that just leaves the question of what exactly Cruise can pull out the bag to top the action ofDead Reckoningand whether that would be an impossible mission too far.
