During tonight’s season finale ofWayward Pines, Fox aired a brand new trailer for their highly-anticipatedX-Files Revival, offering a new glimpse at Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Along with a number of cryptic shots, including a group of soldiers and some sort of medical experiment, the briefX-Files trailershows Mulder asking his partner if she’s “ready for this,” to which she responds, “I don’t know there’s a choice.” The six-episode series is slated to debut on January 24, following the NFC Championship Game on Fox.

Aside from Mulder and Scully, original series starsMitch Pileggi(Walter Skinner) andWilliam B. Davis(The Cigarette Smoking Man) are returning, along with a slew of new cast members.Joel McHaleguest stars as a news anchor who becomes an ally to Mulder, with Annet Mahendru,Rhys DarbyandKumail Nanjianialso joining the cast. The most recentcast additionsareRobbie AmellandLauren Ambrose, who play a pair of new FBI partners. We also reported earlier this week thatThe Lone Gunmenfrom the original series, played byDean Haglund, Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood, will be back at some point.

There have also been rumors thatRobert PatrickandAnnabeth Gishwill return as John Doggett and Monica Reyes from the original series, but their involvement has still yet to be confirmed. Production is currently taking place in Vancouver, with series creatorChris Carterreturning to write and produce alongsideJames Wong, Glen Morgan and Darin Morgan. Theseason premiereepisode will follow Mulder and Scully as they investigate a possible alien abductee, played by Annet Mahendru.

The show’s producers also shot down an early rumor that the second episode, entitled"Home Again", is asequelto the fan-favorite episode"Home"fromThe X-Files Season 4.“Home Again"will center on, “a lunatic love story about deformed, inbred children and the limbless mother they keep under their bed.“Chris Carteralso confirmed that the series won’t be bringing back any of the creatures and monsters from the original series, so we’ll have to wait and see what sort of alien life forms they will create for the revival.

The X-Filesoriginally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases - “X-Files” - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.
