Just before the second season of Netflix’s hit seriesNarcosdebuted last month, executive producerEric Williamsteased that there will be a third season, even though Season 2 will feature the death of drug kingpinPablo Escobar(Wagner Moura). While there is very little we know aboutNarcos Season 3, Netflix released the first trailer last month, that confirmed a 2017 release date, and now we have the first photo from the set, confirming that filming has begun. The image reveals our first look atPedro Pascal’s Javier Pena, who seems to be speaking at a press conference.

The photo debuted on Netflix’s official Instagram for the hit series. While very little is known about the plot this season, it’s possible that this photo is taken from a press conference scene where Javier Pena announces thatPablo Escobaris in fact dead, but we don’t know for sure. Take a look at the caption below from Instagram.

“The blow must go on. Pablo might be dead but the war is not over. Season 3 of #Narcos has begun filming.”

TheNarcos Season 2finale revealed that, in the aftermath of Pablo Escobar’s death, DEA agents Javier Pena and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) would be targeting the Cali Cartel. Theteaser trailerforNarcosSeason 3 revealed that “the blow must go on,” showcasing Pablo Escobar’s former partner, Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damian Alcazar), who will presumably be the focus of Season 3. While we didn’t see him in the trailer, Helmer “Pacho” Herrera (Alberto Ammann) is also expected to serve as Pablo Escobar’s successor.

Netflix has confirmed thatJosé Padilha(Elite Squad,RoboCop) andEric Newman(Children of Men) will continue to serve as executive producers of this hit streaming series.NarcosSeason 1 was designed to span 15 years of Pablo Escobar’s life, leading up to his daring escape in the summer of 1992. At that point in time, the real Pablo Escobar only lived for 18 more months, which is chronicled in Season 2. These latest episodes marked the end of Escobar’s story, which follows the year and a half manhunt for the drug kingpin following his daring prison escape. He was shot and killed in Medellin, Colombia, in 1993.
