If you’re excited about seeingDeadpool 2, Thursday is going to be an important day for you. Via a string of new TV spots that debuted during the most recent episode ofThe Walking Dead, it’s been revealed that tickets for the highly-anticipated sequel go on sale this Thursday. Considering that this is going to be one of thebiggest movies of the summer season, it’s likely that there are going to be a lot of people flooding ticket sites to lock down their seats as soon as the tickets are made available.
TheDeadpoolmarketing team naturally found a way to make this reveal a little more interesting than it might be with your usual summer blockbuster. Fox debuted a series of three new spots forDeadpool 2duringThe Walking DeadandTalking Deadand themed the night with the hashtag #WalkingDeadpool. The spots pick up where each previous spot left off, essentially forming a version of the full-length trailer for the movie, but witha few new shotsspliced in here are there. But in the final spot, they made the announcement that tickets for the movie go on sale Thursday.
“#WalkingDeadpool may be done, but you and me… We’re just getting started. Tickets for #Deadpool2 are on sale Thursday.”
Previously, with movies likeStar Wars: The Force Awakensthat have incrediblyhigh-demand for pre-sale tickets, sites like Fandango have experienced issues when the tickets go on sale. In recent years, these major issues have largely been eradicated, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that some glitches could occur whenDeadpool 2tickets first go up. It could depend on just how high the demand really is and, based on what happened with the first movie, there’s reason to think it’s going to be very high.
Deadpoolbulldozed expectations and earned an incredible $132 million on its opening weekend in 2016, ultimately going on to make $783 million at the worldwide box office. WhileDeadpool 2hasn’tbeen tracking quite as high, there’s still going to be a very high demand for tickets. So, if you have your heart set on getting into one of the very first showings on Thursday night, best try and grab some tickets as soon as they go up.
Unfortunately, as of this writing, it hasn’t been revealed just when exactly on Thursday theDeadpool 2tickets will be made available, but that should be revealed in the next couple of days. Something to keep your eyes peeled for.Deadpool 2arrivesin theaters on May 18, just three weeks afterAvengers: Infinity Warand a week beforeSolo: A Star Wars Story. Will that hurt Wade Wilson’s box office potential? We’ll have to wait and see how that all shakes out.
