The96th Academy Awardsnominees have now been announced, with the likes ofOppenheimer, Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things, and more being nominated for Best Picture. While some of the Oscar nods are exactly what we all expected, there are some glaring names missing from the various lists, including bothBarbiedirectorGreta GerwigandBarbiestar Margot Robbie.
ThoughBarbiewas nominated for various Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, the filmmaker behind the movie and the lead star were left out of proceedings. Could the patriarchy, the real villain of theBarbiestory, be at work? Perhaps the pair are not welcome in the Mojo Dojo Casa House? Well, movie fans have taken to social media to share their feelings over these two big snubs…

Another big surprise is the lack of a nomination for Best Actor forKillers of the Flower Moonstar and Hollywood iconLeonardo DiCaprio. Much likeBarbie,Killers of the Flower Moonhas been nominated for multiple awards, ten in total, including Best Picture, Best Director for Martin Scorsese, and Best Actress for Lily Gladstone.
Other major titles and names missing from the 96th Academy Awards include the psychological thrillerSaltburn, whichhas been nominated for Golden Globesand BAFTAs;All of Us Strangersstar Andrew Scott, whose performance has been hailed by many as one of the best of the year; and Greta Lee, who won a Critics Choice Award and has received several nods for her performance inPast Lives; as well as the likes ofThe Color Purple, Origin, The Iron Claw, andPriscillawhich have all been left out in the cold.
