It has been five years since Paddington Bear last hit the big screen in the sequel to the 2014 hit reboot of the popular children’s franchise. There have been very few updates onPaddington 3since then, but now the previous movie’s co-writer Simon Farnaby has shared some details about the new movie. Having written the original story idea for the threequel, Faranby said he believes that there is a “great director” on board the project and that it will be “brilliant,” although he did add that he is not currently involved much in the movie.
Farnaby is currently promoting his new moviePhantom of The Open, and was speaking toYahoo! Movieswhen he was asked about the current progress of the newPaddingtonmovie. Although he was not giving anything away about the director that might be working on the film, the writer said:

“Paul and I did tentatively write a story for Paddington 3, so we are involved. And I think Paul is involved at an executive level. We did have an idea for it … They’ve got great writers and I think they’ve got a great director, so I think it will be brilliant, but we’re slightly to one side for now.”
Although it seems that Farnaby is not actively working on the movie, knowing that he is responsible for the story being used in the new movie will certainly sit well with fans who loved the first two adventures of this new iteration of Michael Bond’s lovable bear, who is fond of Marmalade sandwiches. As for the movie’s production, it is good to know it is back on track after spending some time on shaky ground.
Paddington 3 is Expected to Begin Filming Later This Year Despite Having Some Setbacks
PaddingtonandPaddington 2were both huge critical and commercial successes, with the second movie managing to become one of the best-rated movies ever on Rotten Tomatoes with an initial 100% rating that was only marred by one subsequent bad review.Paddington 3originally had Paul King set to return to direct until he left the project due to his commitments on Warner Bros.Wonkamovie, adding a delay to the new sequel. Last month, the voice of Paddington,Ben Whishaw, assured fans that the sequel would still be filming before the end of the year.
The real question now is, canPaddington 3manage to surpass its almost perfectly reviewed predecessor, or will the film end up failing on the high expectations laying at its feet? Of course, there is nothing yet known about the storyline of Paddington’s next adventure, but someone will have some big shoes to fill when attempting to meet the standards of Hugh Grant’sPaddington 2villain, Phoenix Buchanan.
When it comes to the rest of the cast, it is likely that Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin will all be back with Whishaw as the members of the Brown family. However, with filming not due to start until later in the year at the earliest, it is likely that we will not see Paddington back on screen until the end of 2023 at the very earliest.
