Ray Fisher’s time as part of the DCEU was tumultuous to say the least, and theJustice Leaguestar made his feelings for departing DC Films presidentWalter Hamadaas he stepped down after four years overseeing DC projects at Warner Bros. Despite the Justice League being a breakout role for Fisher, following his brief debut as Cyborg inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it has been well documented that Fisher was one of the people who described toxic behavior on the set of the movie by director Joss Whedon. As Hamada allegedly protected Whedon against these accusations, Fisher was quick to celebrate the change of head on his Twitter account. The actor wrote:
“Walter Hamada tried to protect his toxic and discriminatory colleagues. He failed. He tried to bury me (and the Justice League investigation) with lies in the trade. He failed. He is a product of old Hollywood cronyism. May we never experience his like again. Onward.”

With Hamada having overseen the DCEU through its ups and downs of the last four years, but times are changing at Warner Bros. Discovery when it comes to the output of what should be its biggest money-spinner. Exactly what the future of DC Films looks like is something that is still being determined, but a certainty is that Hamada will not be part of it.The search is now on for his replacementas DC Films' next president.

Will Ray Fisher Return as Cyborg in the DCEU?
Ray Fisher’s role in Justice League was drastically reduced in the theatrical version ofJustice League, and although this was restored by Zack Snyder whether Fisher will return as Cyborg in a future project is still an unanswered question. Last year, Fisher did give a sign that he was more than up for a return to the franchise, but only on condition that Warner Bros. apologize for his experiences. He previously said:
“I don’t really expect anything, right? Particularly dealing with large corporations. They will oftentimes find a way to defy whatever expectation you may have. But, I think where we could start is an acknowledgment and an apology of what is clearly, publicly known to be an untruth. Then, we can see where it goes from there. We can have that conversation, but I think that’s where the accountability begins. It’s us being able to come to the table and say, ‘These are the things that happened, let’s go ahead and try…’ There seems to be this sort of narrative, I don’t know why it is, but there’s this thing that if you apologize it denotes weakness. I have to apologize for things all the time. Right? Ultimately, it shows, ‘hey, I understand what the situation is.’ I’m willing to talk about that. If its something folks are willing to make the first step on. Like I said, I don’t have too many expectations when it comes to that.”
The future of the DCEU has now taken a new step forward with the release ofBlack Adamthis week, but who will be included in that future is something we can only wait to find out as Warner Bros. Discovery attempts to finally make the franchise’s crown jewel.
