Hollywood legendRobert De Nirohas set up his first starring role in a TV series at Netflix. On Wednesday, the company announced that De Niro is attached to star in a new limited series for the streaming platform. CalledZero Day, the series is created by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim. The drama series will consist of six episodes directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. In addition to starring, De Niro will also executive produce with Newman, Oppenheim, Glatter, Jonathan Glickman, and co-creator Michael S. Schmidt.
De Niro is best known for his work in movies, appearing in a variety of successful and beloved films over the past several decades. That includes winning Oscars for his roles inThe Godfather, Part IIandRaging Bullwith additional nominations earned forTaxi Driver,The Deer Hunter,Awakenings,Cape Fear, andSilver Linings Playbook. He’s still at it, set to appear in multiple upcoming films likeKillers of the Flower Moon, his tenth collaboration with Martin Scorsese. De Niro starred in the 2017 movieThe Wizard Of Lies, and has made guest appearances as himself in other TV shows, butZero Dayis his first starring role in a TV series.

Zero Dayis described as a conspiracy thriller series. Netflix has released the logline for the show, which is as follows:
Zero Day asks the question on everyone’s mind – how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?

Zero Daydoes not yet have a premiere date set at Netflix and it’s not yet clear when filming will start.
