With just 11 days left untilRogue One: A Star Wars Storyhits theaters, LucasFilm has released a new preview showcasing some of thefanscinating creaturesthat will pop up in thisStar Warsspin-off. While we don’t get too much insight about how these creatures fit into the story, directorGareth Edwardsteases how his love for monkeys lead to the creation of one “space monkey,” who is seen firing a large gun out of a ship. We also have a new TV spot forRogue Onewith even more new footage.
This preview fromLucasFilmalso features creature effects superviserNeal Scanlan, who won a visual effects Oscar 20 years ago for his work on the tineless classicBabe. The creature effects superviser revealed that he, like many fans, grew up withStar Wars, and he never dreamed that he’d be able to actually work on aStar Warsmovie one day. We also hear fromAlan Tudyk, who portrays the new droid K-2S0 in the spin-off, who adds how impressed he was with all of the creatures on the film.
This video also featuresFelicity Joneson the set, marveling at these creatures, who serve as a daily reminder of the world they inhabit on the set every day. We also see footage ofGareth Edwardsproviding direction to the actors in costume as these creatures. The video ends withGareth Edwardsshaking the hand of an actor who is playing an unidentified Mon Calimari character. It reamins to be seen if this character has any relation to the most famous Mon Calimari, Admiral Ackbar.
