Last summer, Marvel’sAvengers: Age of UltronintroducedElizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, after we got an early glimpse of this magical character, and her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in the end credits scene of 2014’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier. At the end ofAvengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlet Witch became an official member of the Avengers, returning this weekend as part of the massive ensemble cast ofCaptain America: Civil War. While promoting this new movie, which debuts in Thursday night preview screenings tonight, the actress made quite the intriguing revelation about her costume.

While most Marvel characters in the MCU stick quite closely to their comic counterparts, in terms of the costume,Avengers: Age of UltrondirectorJoss Whedonwent in another direction withScarlet Witch.Elizabeth Olsen’s look is far more conservative than in the comics, which is quite skimpy and revealing. The actress says she was never going to wear that original costume in the first place. While promotingCaptain America: Civil Waron NBC’sLate Night With Seth Meyers, the actress told a story about her first meeting withAvengers: Age of UltrondirectorJoss Whedon. Here’s what she had to say below.

“The same meetingJoss Whedoneven mentioned who we were meeting about, he said there’s this character, Scarlet Witch, that I’m interested in for you to play. And when you go home and Google her, just know that you will never ever have to wear what she wears in the comics. I did ballet growing up, but that’s not a confident look.”

AfterSeth Meyersshowed the audience a photo of Scarlet Witch’scomic book costume, which consisted of a cape and a skimpy skin-tight suit that barely covered her chest, the actress joked about how much tape would be needed, if she were to ever wear that costume. It’s worth noting thatdirector Joss Whedonhas since parted ways with Marvel Studios, but it still wouldn’t make sense to change her costume from her current look to this revealing attire. Her current clothes may change in future movies, but it would most likely be along the same lines as what she wears now.

AfterMarvel’s Civil War,Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will most likely be back forAvengers: Infinity War Part 1andAvengers: Infinity War Part 2, although no cast members have been confirmed for either movie as of yet. Production is scheduled to start in late 2016, with directorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russoshooting both movies back-to-back.
