Ahead of its release next summer, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for the animatedScooby-DoorebootScoob. In addition to exploring the origins of Mystery Inc. and how Scooby met Shaggy, the gang inScoob!will take on their biggest challenge yet when they uncover a plot to release the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. According to the official synopsis, the mystery-solvers will also discover “that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.” The new teaser gives us a very good look at the redesigned characters while also letting us hear their voices, most of which are of new actors. You can watch the new teaser trailer below.
Scoob!is directed by Tony Cervone and animated by Reel FX for Warner Animation Group. Using a story by Matt Lieberman, Kelly Fremon Craig penned the screenplay. As a possible start to a newHanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, the story will bring in many other characters from various Hanna-Barbera properties. Some of the other Hanna-Barbera names confirmed to be inScoobinclude Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Dog Wonder, Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Sykes,Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon, and Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly.

As forScooby-Dooand the gang, only one longtime voice actor will be returning to provide voices inScoob!. Frank Welker, who has been voicing Fred Jones since 1969 and Scooby-Doo since 2002, will only be voicing the titular Scoob in the new movie. Replacing him as Fred will be Zac Efron, with theHigh School Musicalstar joined by Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, and Will Forte as Shaggy Rogers. Recasting other longtime voice actors Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and Grey Griffin (Daphne} generated some controversy withScooby-Doofans when it was first announced, but Forte and Seyfried are both capable of doing a fine job with the characters in their own ways.
The Mystery Machine previously drove into theaters when the live-actionScooby-Doomovie was released in 2002. It notably starred Lillard as Shaggy, with the actor going on to replace Casey Kasem as the voice of the character in animated projects. Also starring were Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, and Linda Cardellini as Velma. All four would reprise their roles in 2004 for the sequelScooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. As noScooby-Doo movieshave been released in theaters since, the premiere ofScoob!in 2020 will mark the first time Scooby and the gang have been in theaters in 16 years.
Scoob!will be released in theaters on June 22, 2025. Even with its controversial recastings, it’s pretty exciting as a fan of the franchise to see our favorite animated pup back on the big screen.
