Scream 7, the official return of theScreamfranchise after a three-year hiatus, is set for release in February 2026. Fans remain clueless about the details of the slasher sequel, with Paramount Pictures keeping things close to the chest. During filming, the cast and crew were vocal when speaking about thehorrorsequel, but lately, things have been quiet on the Ghostface front. Fortunately,Anna Camp, one of the franchise’s newcomers, has spilled a few details. However, Camp did not spoil anything important, and simply preferred to raise anticipation about the return of none other than Sidney Prescott herself,Neve Campbell.
In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb’s George Edelman, Camp talked about her arrival inone of the most beloved horror franchisesof all time. It’s been a long time coming for the actor whose previous horror credentials include TV appearances inTrue Blood,CreepshowandYou. Camp’s latest work is the action comedyBride Hard, which premiered in theaters on June 20.

Camp’s role inScream 7is yet to be determined, as is the case for all new cast members, except for Isabel May and Joel McHale. They will play Sidney’s daughter and husband, respectively. When talking about the upcoming slasher sequel, Camp shows gratitude for her opportunity to join the highly coveted horror franchise while expressing her excitementover Sidney’s highly-anticipated return:

“All I can say is, it’s very scary. It’s a fun ride, and it’s very scary. So I think people are going to be very happy to see Sidney Prescott back in action, and Neve Campbell is incredible in it, so I’m really excited to see her in this role. I like the Scream franchise. So it’s such an honor to have been a part of it.”

Anna Camp is joined by more potential victims of Ghostface’s shenanigans. New cast members also include Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Michelle Randolph, and'90s icon Ethan Embry, among others. They are the ones who are new to the franchise, withScream 7also bringing back all manner of familiar faces who have been previously involved. Even original composer Marco Beltrami is back to score the film, which means the iconic theme, also known as “Sidney’s Lament,” could also be part of the movie.
But the composer isn’t the only one returning. Legacy characters played by Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, David Arquette, Scott Foley, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding are also back forScream 7.The film is directed by Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter behind 1996’sScream,Scream 2andScream 4. Although he doesn’t have much directing experience, his screenwriting credits are noteworthy, to say the least (he also wrote ’90s horror gems likeThe FacultyandI Know What You Did Last Summer). Guy Busick is on screenwriting duties, marking his official return after writing 2022’sScreamandScream VI. James Vanderbilt, his frequent collaborator, only has story credits this time.
