Justin Roiland and fellowRick and Mortywriter Mike McMahan have a brand new show incoming, and it is all set to hit streaming serviceHuluthis coming May. More specifically, the entire 8-episode first season will land on the streaming service on May 8 this year.
The show, entitled Solar Opposites, follows the animated, science fiction trend of the much loved adventures of alcoholic scientist Rick and his put-upon grandson, Morty. ForSolar Oppositeswe are introduced to a family of aliens who have left their super sophisticated planet and travelled to Earth to live in middle America. While there, the family disagree over whether our planet is awful, or awesome.

Of course, as you all probably already know, Justin Roiland co-created the hugely popularRick and Mortyalongside fellow writer and actor Dan Harmon, but this time we have a differentRick and Mortywriter on board alongside Roiland, that of Mike McMahan, who has been a part of the show since the first season. This could very well lead to something similar and familiar, but with a slightly different flavour. Besides, who doesn’t want moreRick and Morty-style shows?
Speaking of familiarity, the incomingSolar Oppositessounds a little like the NBC show3rd Rock From The Sunwhich aired between 1996 and 2001, and again told the story of a group of extraterrestrials who came to Earth and pose as a human family in order to observe human behaviour. Of course, much hilarity ensues. Though, fear not, as with Justin Roiland’s genius at the helm there is no doubt thatSolar Oppositeswill do something different with the similar premise.

Thankfully, we do not have to wait too long to find out exactly what they do with their particular alien family, as thefirst season will hit Hulu on July 21, 2025. While that may feel like a lifetime away, we suggest you simply rewatchRick and Mortyagain from the beginning and before you know it you will be sitting down to watch the first episode ofSolar Opposites. And, if you watch it too quickly, just watch it again as you’ll no doubt notice things you never noticed before.
You may or may not remember that during last year’s Comic-Con we were given a sneak peek at some of the details ofSolar Opposites, including a glimpse at the overall plot, the characters and the voices behind them, with Justin Roiland, Tom Kenny and Mary Mack seemingly very excited about the new show.
Solar Oppositesstars voice actors Justin Roiland on dual voicing duty again as Terry and Korvo, Mary Mack as Jesse, and Sean Giambrone as Yumyulack. The series is executive produced by Roiland and McMahan alongside Josh Bycel and is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television. This comes to us courtesy ofHulu streaming app.
