Ever sinceMarvelannounced thatSpider-Manwill finally join theMarvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been wondering what the web crawler’s new costume will look like. Over the past few months, we’ve seen pieces of rumored concept art and descriptions of the costume, but nothing has been confirmed byMarvelor Sony Pictures quite yet. Today,Heroic Hollywoodhas another report to throw on the rumor pile, which claims that the back of Spidey’s new outfit will include a throwback to the very first comic books.
Spider-Man’s new costume will reportedly feature the infamous red spider logo that fans will recognize from the original comics dating back to 1962. This information comes from members of an unspecified theater staff, who were treated to a special 15 minute screening of new footage that reportedly contains the first look atSpider-Man’s costume. It isn’t known if this is the costume he’ll be wearing inCaptain America: Civil War, or what other footage was shown during this event

Back in August, another report claimed thatSpideymay actually be wearing two different costumes inCaptain America: Civil War, one of which employs the “classic blue-and-red color scheme.” It was at once thought to be black and red, like the earliest incarnation of the character. That report didn’t include any details about this classic Spidey emblem on the back of the costume, butMarvel’sJoe Quesadarevealed at Comic Con that the new superhero suit will “blow people away.” It isn’t known when the studio plans on giving fans their first look at the newSpider-Man, played byTom Holland, so we’ll have to wait and see if this rumor is confirmed.

Jon Watts(Cop Car) is directing from a script byJohn Francis DaleyandJonathan M. Goldstein(Horrible Bosses,Vacation). It isn’t known when production will start at this time, but Sony and Marvel have already handed out a July 13, 2025 release date.
