Both studios have announced a brand-new animated series titledSpider-Man: Freshman Year. The series is expected to follow Peter Parker’s early years before becoming the web slinger we all know today. As of right now, it is currently unclear whetherTom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man, or if the lead role will be voiced by Hudson Thames, who voiced the character in the first season of Marvel’sWhat If…?. Marvel has had a strong presence so far during the festivities, also announcing the new animated seriesX-Men ‘97andMarvel Zombies. It also debuted brand new logos forShe-Hulk,Ironheart,Echo,Secret Invasion, andAgatha: House of Harkness.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year,X-Men ‘97andMarvel Zombiesall follow Marvel’sWhat If…?, the studio’s first foray into the animation realm. Marvel’s heavyweight, Victoria Alonso, is currently heading a mini-studio within Marvel that is primarily focusing on animated projects. One of those projects would have been a spinoff of Marvel’sWhat If…?which would followStar-Lord T’Challa. Unfortunately, that project was scrapped due to the passing of Chadwick Boseman last year.
