Yesterday, a rumor surfaced that thethird trailerfor Disney and LucasFilm’s highly-anticipatedStar Wars: The Force Awakenswill finally be released on Monday, October 19, which arrives in conjunction with tickets going on sale that same day.Screen Crush, which first reported on the trailer debut, has also reportedly confirmed that the runtime forStar Wars: The Force Awakenshas been locked in at two hours and 16 minutes. If this runtime is correct, directorJ.J. Abrams' sci-fi adventure will have the exact same length asStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, but it still won’t be the longestStar Warsmovie, a distinction which belongs to 2002’sStar Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.
If tickets forStar Wars: The Force Awakensare going on sale this coming Monday, we should have official word about both the ticket sales and the third and final trailer either today or tomorrow. As for what will be shown in the trailer, we have no clue, but many are hoping that the new footage will include our first look atMark Hamill’sLuke Skywalker. The iconic character has been absent from the first two trailers, and thebehind-the-scenesvideo from Comic-Con that gave us our first look atCarrie Fisher’sPrincess Leia.

During New York Comic Con last weekend, it was revealed that the next wave of books in the Journey toStar Wars: The Force Awakensseries will shed light on new characters, who were first seen in Vanity Fair photos that debuted in May.The Perfect Weapon, written byDelilah Dawson, will explore the character of Bazine, the young woman wearing the black hood in the middle of thisphoto, who is seen sitting on an imposing yet unidentified alien species. The book will be released on November 24, and will be followed by the “intergalactic swashbuckling pirate story"The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dookufrom expanded universe writer Alan Dean Foster, which will shed new light on the alien wearing red armor at the far right of the same photo.
In related news, Topps has unveiled the final two trading cards fromStar Wars: The Force Awakensclassic series, which feature the new heroes Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). These cards were unveiled through theStar WarsCard Trader App, which fans can download from theiTunes App Storeor onGoogle Play. Unfortunately, the Finn trading card doesn’t showcase the character with a lightsaber, as we’ve seen in previous posters and videos.

After this adventure hits theaters in December, fans will have one whole year to get ready for the first spinoff,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hits theaters on August 08, 2025.Star Wars: Episode VIIIwill follow on July 20, 2025, along withStar Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movieon June 01, 2025 andStar Wars: Episode IXin 2019. Disney and LucasFilm are also developing a third spinoff, rumored to center on Boba Fett, which may debut in 2020.
