While fans are most excited aboutStar Wars: The Force AwakensreunitingCarrie Fisher,Harrison FordandMark Hamillon screen for thefirst time in over thirty years, they’re not the only original players set to make a comeback. The film also featuresStar Wars: Episode IV - A New HopestarsAnthony DanielsandKenny Bakerreprising their iconic roles as C-3PO and R2-D2. Perhaps it’s not as special, seeing as how both actors are the only two to participate in all 7Star Wars movies. While it’s fun to have them back, regardless, what a lot of fans might not know is that these two actors hate each other. In fact,Anthony Danielsrecently slammedKenny Bakerquite hard in the press. About the diminutive star returning to play everyone’s favorite Astro-Mech droid, his golden rod counterpart had this to say.
“He’s not actually on the set. I haven’t seen him for years. His name is on the credits as a sort of… I don’t know, a good luck charm, a courtesy. He’s a talisman.”

Why didAnthony Danielsdecide to belittle his co-star? Turns out, a feud between the two has been raging for years. In fact, it dates all the way back to 1976, when the original film was being shot. And don’t look for it to end anytime soon. The two actors apparently can’t stand to be in the same room together.Anthony Danielsfinally broke his silence about the robot wars earlier this week. He decided to retaliate against claims thatKenny Bakermade, and has kept on making for quite some time. AskKenny Bakerwhat he thinks aboutAnthony Daniels, and he’ll simply say the following.
“[He’s] the rudest man I’ve ever met.”

Anthony Danielshad previously decided to stay quiet about his dislike ofKenny Baker. But that’s all his co-star wants to talk about, it seems. Even though they’ll be the only two actors to participate in all 7 of theStar Warsmovies, their legacy is being tarnished by this war of words. AndAnthony Danielshas even called into question whether or not it’s truly fair to say thatKenny Bakerwas, in fact, in all of the movies.
Kenny Bakerclaims thatAnthony Danielshas called him ‘Little Man’ for the past thirty years, a nickname that he loathes.Kenny Bakersays he’s not the only one that doesn’t get along with C-3PO’s alter ego. The actor goes onto claim thatAnthony Danielsdoes not mix well with the rest of the cast, and when he’s not on set, he’s no where to be found. And he never participates in any of thebehind-the-scenesfun had by the rest of the actors.Kenny Bakerhad this to say in an interview dating back to 2008.
“Anthony doesn’t mix at all - he keeps himself to himself. He never wants to have a drink with any of us. Once when I said hello to him he just turned his back on me and said, “Can’t you see I’m having a conversation?” It was the rudest thing anyone had ever done to me. I was furious. He wouldn’t even look at me.”
Kenny Bakerclaims this even happened a second time. Though, afterAnthony Danielstold Baker that he was engaged in a prior conversation, and to leave him alone, Kenny noticed there wasn’t anyone else in sight. And that C-3PO must have been having a conversation with himself. R2 might have a point. In the same interview whereAnthony Danielsslammed the 3ft 8in thespian, he also had some less than pretty words to say aboutMark Hamill’s return.
“What is funny is C-3PO looks the same - Harrison, Carrie and Mark .. not so much…Poor Mark. He was a young lovely looking lad when he was first Luke Skywalker and now… well…”
In theMirrorinterview, which is quite informative,Anthony Danielsalso reveals how boring it was to be on the set ofStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the JediduringCarrie Fisher’s Slave Leia scenes. While most fans would have loved to have been there, he makes it sound like a real drag. Though he does have nice things to say aboutCarrie Fisher.
“[That scene was] boring. Oh, yes. That took three days to do. We actually got bored and quite tired of looking at Carrie in her gold bikini. This is the thing, she wasn’t comfortable. She was very uncomfortable really. But she didn’t complain because she’s a professional.”
While it hasn’t been confirmed, it is assumed that Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker will be back on set for bothStar Wars: Episode VIIIandStar Wars: Episode IX. If you want to learn about the time the actor almost died in costume, or how he was replaced by CGI inStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sithdespite being on set and ready to work, you can check out the rest of this interviewhere. What do you think? Does it ruin your childhood a little too know that C-3PO and R2-D2 hate each other in real life?
