AsStar Wars: Episode VIIIreaches the mid-point of production, quite a few plot rumors have been supposedly leaked. And they of course hint that Master JediLuke Skywalkerwill be training Rey in the ways of the force. What these unconfirmed story details fail to mention is how Chewbacca and R2-D2 factor into this. When Luke trained with Yoda on Dagobah, he didn’t have the added bonus of a Wookie audience. Only R2-D2, who powered down during those more intense moments of study. As we can see in a series of new set photos, Chewbacca and R2 aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. As they sit in the Millennium Falcon parked at the bottom of the now-iconic Jedi steps on the well-hidden planet of Ahch-To.

Thanks toThe Daily Mail, we have our first look at theMillennium Falconparked on a portion of Ahch-To. It is rumored that Luke has been searching for the first Jedi Temple, which he’s found. There will also be a big creepy tree inStar Wars: Episode VIIIthat is reminiscent of the Dagobah atmosphere. But we’re not sure if it at all factors into Rey’s training.

The Last Jedi

Some are speculating that this tree will be used in atraining sequencesimilar to the one inEmpire Strikes Back. In that sequel toStar Wars, Luke entered a trance-like state where he discovered Darth Vader hiding in a cave. He split Darth’s mask open with hislightsaberto find his own face hiding underneath. The question is, who will Rey find hiding under Kylo Ren’s mask, if that’s even who she faces off against at all?

The Ahch-To Set is a recreation of the famed Skellig Michael Island in Ireland, where the final moments ofThe Force Awakensand the opening act ofStar Wars 8were filmed on location. As you can see, the Millennium Falcon is exactly as we last left it. And it appears that whatever is being filmed here is a direct continuation of what we saw happen at the end ofEpisode 7. As we explained earlier, a number of plot points have been leaked. But oddly, none of those details mention Chewbacca and R2-D2 at all.

Star Wars

They do, however, contain one massive spoiler that is on par with Darth Vader’s revelation that he is Luke’s father. We dare not spoil it here, but the twist has been called ridiculous. And it’s probably not true. you’re able to find this insane backstory spoiler elsewhere on this site, or on the Internet if you are so inclined to look for it. But be warned, this is a shock best reserved for a first viewing if it’s at all true. Which it probably isn’t.

Director Rian Johnsonrecently showed off two black and white photos from the set, heralding the man with the microfiber sham, a crew member who’s duty it is to wipe off X-Wing and A-Wing windshields. It was at this time that the filmmaker declared shooting was halfway done. That puts the sequel on track to be wrapped by July. It’s speculated that we’ll see the first trailer this Thanksgiving. But others believe they might hold back until March 2017 to unveil the first footage, a pattern they used for the first spinoffRogue One: A Star Wars Story. Though, the director has said he’ll be less frugal with spoilers and footage, so we may even see something as soon asStar Wars Day, May 4th. Take a look at the latest images from set.
