Thrawn-Purrgil-Ezra

Anticipation for her new series is high, particularly after how disappointed fans were withThe Mandalorianseason 3 andThe Book of Boba Fett. WithAndorreceiving such positive reviews, many were wondering whereAhsokacould fall into the recent slate ofStar Warstelevision projects.Early word of mouth has been good, and with the series bringing so many elements in fromStar Wars: Rebels, these are some questions to the franchise the series could answer.

Where Are Ezra And Thrawn?

The series finale ofStar WarsRebelsyears ago left fans with the most integral mystery inAhsoka: where are Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn? After being shot into hyperspace without any protection, likely into the deadly Unknown Regions, no one is sure if they’re still alive.

This storyline is all but confirmed, withAhsokahaving cast actors for Thrawnand Ezra. The trailers for Ahsoka pretty much confirm this will be the overriding storyline of the series, and many fan-favorite characters fromStar Wars: Rebelswill return. Considering the last episode of Star Wars: Rebels aired in 2017, this is a storyline fans have been waiting six years to see resolved.

Why Did Ahsoka’s Lightsabers Change From Blue To White?

Ahsoka’s lightsabers have changed several timesand have always held fans' interest. Her first was a common green, but she held it in a reverse grip, the first person seen to do so. Ahsoka built a second lightsaber later, an unusual yellow-green, and switched grips often, creating unique fighting techniques. Both lightsabers then changed to blue at the end of the Clone Wars by her mentor Anakin Skywalker and had become pure white by the time of the Rebellion.

The color of a lightsaber represents the one who wields it, and Ahsoka’s white lightsabers mean a lot to the character. In E.K. Johnston’s novelAhsoka, Ahsoka kills an Imperial Inquisitor who was hunting her, takes the red kyber crystals from his lightsabers, and purifies them, using them to build new lightsabers for herself. The novel is non-canon, though, so thatAhsokacan shed some light on this.

What Happened To Lux Bonteri?

The least pressing mystery in Ahsoka’s life, but not the least important, is the fate of Lux Bonteri, Ahsoka’s romantic interest. The son of a Separatist senator, Bonteri changed Ahsoka’s view on the whole war, and they both went on several dangerous missions together. All we know about him after the Clone Wars is from Christie Golden’s novelInferno Sqaud, where we learn Bonteri was a rebel helping Saw Gerrera’s Partisans fight the Empire. Lux Bonteri was important to Ahsoka’s character development and would be a great and established addition to the show.

Ahsoka-Leaving-the-Jedi-Order

While it seems unlikely that Ahsoka will have any romantic involvement in her story, her connection to Lux was a big part of her learning to let go of attachments. After she left the Jedi order, that burden was no longer on her, but did she ever want to return to her friend? It would be great to see Lux as a member of the New Republic and see these two reunite after all these years.

Is Ahsoka A Jedi?

During the Clone Wars, Ahsoka was framed for bombing the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and expelled fromthe Order. She escaped prison and cleared her name, was pardoned, and invited to rejoin the Order as a fully-fledged Knight. Unfortunately, she lost faith in the Jedi and never returned. InRebels, Darth Vader reminds Ahsoka that seeking revenge for Anakin’s death is not the Jedi way, to which Ahsoka simply responds: “I’m no Jedi.”

InThe Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka is with Luke Skywalker as he builds a training site for future students, and it appears she may be helping Luke rebuild the Order. In season two ofThe Mandalorian, Din Djarinfinds Ahsoka, wanting to return Grogu to “his own kind.” Ahsoka neither confirms nor deniesher status as a Jedi. The shows paint Ahsoka as a Jedi, even though she herself said otherwise and abandoned Jedi teaching. TheAhsokaseries can set this straight, as even Ahsoka’s white lightsabers testify to her being neither Jedi nor Sith. If Ahsoka is trying to find Ezra, is it for the purpose of helping to rebuild the Jedi?

Who Else Knows About the World Between Worlds?

Ahsoka was about to die at the hands of Darth Vader inRebelsuntil Ezra literally pulls her out of the fight into the World Between Worlds. A mystical plane within the Force, the World Between Worlds connects all places and times within the Star Wars Universe. While in the World Between Worlds, Ezra and Ahsoka encounter Palpatine, who was trying to use it for his own evil means before blocking him from the realm forever.

A unique place, the World Between Worlds is too important to ignore, and the design around theAhsokalogo seems to be inspired by the portals from this realm, and there are many, many questions about this mysterious and powerful place. The trailers forAhsokasuggest the series' new villains, Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati (played by Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno, respectively), are two former Jedi turned Dark Side users standing in an area that looks like a map of the World Between Worlds.

Does Ahsoka Know of Anakin’s Redemption?

Ahsoka was the padawan learner of Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. Master and Padawan fought together all the way through the war, even after Ahsoka left the Order. Ahsoka was Anakin’s closest friendafter Obi-Wan Kenobi. Then Anakin fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader, erasing Anakin from existence. When Ahsoka meets him again, she blames herself for leaving him during the war and tries to kill Vader for destroying Anakin’s legacy.

Ahsoka is alive after the events ofReturn of the Jediand talks to his son Luke, but we don’t know if Ahsoka ever learns of his sacrifice to bring peace to the galaxy. Luke Skywalker likely told her, but it would be interesting to see how Ahsoka comes to terms with this news and if she ever finds peace with who her old master became and what he did in his final moments.

What Was Ahsoka Doing During The Rebellion?

Probably the most pressing question that must be answered by the series is what Ahsoka was doing that kept her away from the Rebellion’s struggle against the Palpatine and his Empire. Ahsoka was no friend of the Empire and was betrayed by Order 66 like the Jedi, but she, a trained Force-user, never joined the larger fight. She was a rebel informant during the first season ofStar Wars: Rebels, but after her confrontation with Vader, she virtually disappeared until the finale. Fans have no idea what she was doing in the meantime or who even knew she was still alive.

When Did Ahsoka and Luke Skywalker Meet

The Book of Boba Fettrevealed that Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano knew of each other and were working alongside one another. This was a big moment, the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker and his son on screen together. It feels like the moment these two legendary figures meet would have been a big moment, and one fans likely would want to see, yet it happens off-screen.

WhileAshokawill take place afterThe Book of Boba Fett, a flashback could show her andLuke Skywalker meeting for the first time. What she thought of the news that Anakin had children, and how Luke responds to meeting someone who was so close to the father he never got to know.

What Ever Happened to Barriss Offee

Barriss Offee was Ahsoka’s best friend during The Clone Wars. Both were apprentices that grew close to one another, with Barriss being a calmer ruler follower to Ahsoka’s more impulsive and daring attitude. They complimented each other well which made Barriss’s framing of Ahsoka an even bigger betrayal. Barriss was last seen being taken into Galactic Republic custody.

It is unclear what happened to her after the rise of the Empire. In many ways, Barriss' intuition was right about the Republic falling to the Dark Side. If she did escape, it would be interesting to see her and Ahsoka meet all these years later. Barriss was wrong to frame Ahsoka and did betray her friend, but she was right about what was coming for the galaxy. The two former friends would be enemies, and if they could never forgive one another, they could work together as the Empire andThrawn’s new plans to bring it backis something both would want to stop. They now share a common enemy and find them once again needing to work together.

Why Isn’t She in the Sequels?

Fans of Ahsoka were interested to hear her voice call out toRey when she connected to the Force, along with the voices of several other Jedi, during the climax ofThe Rise of Skywalker. For all the other Jedi, their deaths had been seen on screen. Did Ahsoka’s voice imply she had died by the time of the last film? As far as fans can tell, Luke was supposed to be the last Jedi left alive. While it seems unlikely that Disney will kill off one of their most popular characters, willAhsokareveal anything about what her fate will be?

Ahsoka was a young teen during her first appearance, which takes place about 20 years or so beforeA New Hope. Ahsoka should have been in her 30s duringStar Wars: Rebels, so she would only be 60 or a bit older during the sequel trilogy. Especially for alien species inStar Wars, it seems likely that her natural lifespan should have allowed her to be alive during that time. Just like fans want to know where she was during the Rebellion, there are questions about what happened to her before the sequels.

Ahsoka will unlikely meet her end in the series, as there are plans for amassiveStar Warsfilm directed by Dave Filoni, which will unite various corners of the franchise likeThe Mandalorian,The Book of Boba Fett, andAhsoka. She will likely be a key player in that, but it will be interesting to see if Ahsoka leaves any breadcrumbs as to why she was not present for the fight against The First Order.

TheAhsokaseries has much potential to solve many mysteries from across the galaxy, and we won’t have to wait long for answers.
