The Boysrecently wrapped filming on its highly anticipated fifth and final season, so it was only a matter of time before more details about the plot surfaced. However, it came as a major surprise when the first teaser for the final installment ofEric Kripke’s satirical superhero series dropped behind closed doors at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on July 25. The footage was shared duringPrime Video’sGen Vpanel in Hall H, marking the first look at the action that is to come when the show takes its final bow on screens next year.
Judging by the details of the sneak peek, as reported by Deadline,The Boyswill be going out with a bang. The sneak peek offered a glimpse of some new and returning cast members, including Antony Starr’s Homelander, who was shown delivering a powerful declaration, as he proclaimed that the country will be a “safer, God-fearing nation” under his command — but it might not be so safe for him, as Kripke has already confirmed thatthere will be an epic final showdownbetween Homelander and Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher in Season 5.

The Boys Seems Set on Killing a Major Character
The Boys never shies away from brutal and gruesome murders, and based on recent events, one Supe and member of The Seven could be next.
The video also shared a brief look at newcomer Jared Padalecki, who hasboarded the final season ofThe Boysalongside Misha Collins for a reunion with theirSupernaturalco-star Jensen Ackles, aka Soldier Boy. There was also a quickfire shot of Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett, looking concerned over something she had done as her expression promptly changed from delight to despair. The reason is unclear, but since the sizzle reel was loaded withThe Boys' signature violence, blood, and gore, we can only imagine that it is serious.

‘Gen V’ Season 2 to Crossover With ‘The Boys’ Season 5
During the SDCC panel, an all-new trailer forGen VSeason 2 also debuted, giving fans a gnarly lookat the show’s sophomore run, which will premiere on Prime Video on Sept. 17, 2025, ahead ofThe BoysSeason 5 release date sometime in 2026. The two shows are expected to crossover, but it seems that the flagship series and spin-off will collide more than fans initially anticipated. Deadline shared that one event will have “major implications asThe Boyswraps its storyline,” withGen Vsetting the stage forThe Boys' final eight episodes.
Fans ofThe Boyshave plenty to look forward to beyondGen VSeason 2 andThe BoysSeason 5, as there are several other projects adjacent to the mainline series in the works.
