Prime Videohas released the first trailerfor the female-led, Australian version ofThe Office.Starring Felicity Ward as Hannah Howard (the Australian equivalent of Michael Scott), the series puts a more modern spin on the now well-worn workplace mockumentary sitcom. Set in the present day,the series follows the employees of Finley Craddick as they’re forced back into the office full-time, following the COVID pandemic.

The new trailer gives audiences the best look yet at the show’s zany cast of characters. No office manager would be complete without their own Dwight Schrute, and Hannah’s comes in the form of productivity manager Lizzie (Edith Poor). Finley Craddick even has its own Jim and Pam stand-ins in Nick (Steen Raskopoulos) and Greta (Shari Sebbens). The trailer featuresmuch of the same cringy, awkward humorthat defined both the U.K. and U.S. versions of the show.Check out the trailer below:

Jim and Pam in The Office

Of course, it wouldn’t beThe Officewithout some workplace shenanigans. While the U.K. and U.S. versions featured enough workplace violations to ensure that every member of staff at Wernham Hogg and Dunder Mifflin should be fired, the Australian version is dialing things up to 11.Bringing in a pet crow to work, sleeping at the office, and browsing the dark web on a work computer, are just a tease of what’s to come in the new show.

Fans React to The Office Remake Trailer

The Officefans got theirfirst look at the Australian remake in August, and the online reaction was mixed. A certain section of fans immediately slated the concept because of its female lead character, while others decided to wait for a trailer, and give the show a chance. Now that the trailer has been released, the fan base has collectively banded together to declare their hatred for the new show, and comments under the footage are filled with negative reactions to what’s been shown.

The Office Followup Adds Three New Cast Members

Peacock’s spinoff of The Office has landed stars from Legends of Tomorrow, Snowfall, and Poker Face.

“Dear Prime. It’s not too late to delete this,” wrote one user. Another comment noted the seemingly forced comedy in the trailer, highlighting that the actors look like they’re acting, writing “They look and sound like they are trying too hard to be funny. There doesn’t feel like there’s the candidness of a documentary either.” Another user remembered their pessimistic reaction to the first look image, saying that the trailer is far worse than they thought it would be. They wrote:

The Office (U.S.)

“I thought this was going to be bad when I first read about it and was actually surprised to find that it’s actually worse than I could have possibly imagined.”

Social media is just as unkind to the trailer. Underneath the official X post from Prime Video AU/NZ, dozens of Aussie users shared their unfiltered opinions of the trailer. Thinking back to the Paris Olympics,@suthodanwrote, “Please delete this immediately. After Raygun, we don’t need this bad press."@joel3062000simply said, “Geez this looks awful.”
