‘Severance’ Is a Huge Hit for Apple TV+
Dan Erickson createdSeverancefor AppleTV+,an ambitious, creative, and challenging sci-fi story about the biotech company Lumon Industries and its employees. The plot thickens when former history teacher Mark Scout (Adam Scott) agrees to enter a Severance Program at Lumon Industries, where he works in the “Macro-data Refinement Department.” Once he enters the program, Mark soon discovers that his work and domestic life have been scientifically divided in his mind through a process that eliminates memories.
With two distinctive personalities, Lumon Industries employees are called Innies at work and Outies at home. As Mark grapples with his cleaved identity, he must guide a group of subordinates through the Severance program while reconciling his external reasons for joining the program in the first place. The existential crisisescalates to the point of no return when Mark’s Innie/Outie lives begin to blur and bleed together.

As long as he doesn’t star in it, we’ll be okay.
Mark’s colleagues include rebellious Helly (Britt Lower), blithe Dylan (Zach Cherry), supervisor Seth (Tramell Tillman), brown-noser Irving Bailiff (John Turturro), Head of Optics and Design Burt Goodman (Christopher Walken), floor manager Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette), and the recently introduced Deputy Manager, Mrs. Huang (Sarah Bock).
Who Is Ms. Huang in ‘Severance’?
InSeveranceSeason 2, Episode 1, “Hello, Ms. Cobel,“fans were immediately struck by the unsettling presence of Ms. Huang, a teenager who appears far too young to be the Severed Floor’s Deputy Manager at Lumon Industries. Yet, that’s the precise job title she is given, as confirmed by her nametag and company badge. Actress Sarah Bock is a legal adult at age 18 but appears younger in the show due to deliberate makeup and costuming.
Fans weren’t the only ones taken aback by Ms. Huang’s youthful, out-of-place appearance on the Severed Floor. While the new Deputy Manager has an aloof and bizarre countenance on par with Seth, her co-workers leer at her suspiciously, indicating that they don’t even know what Ms. Huang is up to in Season 2. Fortunately, diligent fans have poured through theshow’s social mediaand culled clues possibly revealing Ms. Huang’s true role at Lumon Industries. Believe it or not,LinkedIn may hold the key.
What Lumon Industries' LinkedIn Reveals About Ms. Huang
Despite one episode appearance thus far, there’s been no shortage of wild fan theories regarding Ms. Huang inSeverance. OneRedditorposited that Ms. Huang is a deceased teen who was killed in a car accident, possibly resulting from her crossing guard position, before being revived by the company.
Another theory suggests that Ms. Huang is a corporate robot with advanced AI. Bock toldEllethat a fan had messaged her directly online to espouse the theory. While Bock remained mum beyond that, fans scouring Lumon Industries' long-active LinkedIn page may have uncovered Miss Huang’s true sinister nature. According to Lumon Industries’LinkedIn Page(active since 2022), a August 01, 2025, post reads:
“Felicitations are in order for this quarter’s Wintertide Fellow: Ms. Huang. Her green outlook is precisely what Lumon aims to cultivate as an organization. She will be invaluable on our severed floor.”
Lumon’s corporate lingo, “Wintertide Fellow,” has led fans to believe Ms. Huang is a glorified winter intern rather than a teenage Deputy Manager. On August 02, 2025, Lumon Industries posted a video to its LinkedIn Page depicting Mr. Milchick and Ms. Huang in a training routine. In the video, Mr. Milchick states, “With me is our fellow in training, Ms. Huang. Greet the viewer, Ms. Huang.” In response, Miss Huang addresses the camera and clinically utters, “Hello.” Milchick mentions goals regarding “interpersonal nourishment,” to which Ms. Huang adds:
“To this end, we employ rigorous orientation protocols. Here are the 127 steps to maximizing glee and enforcing a productive workplace.”
From there, the video is edited with a “Redacted” banner, indicating that Ms. Huang misspoke and exposed information that was too sensitive for public consumption. When the video returns, Ms. Huang adds: “From there, secure camaraderie with a jovial round…of ballgame.” She holds a red rubber playground ball and continues, “Make sure the ball is well inflated and that the players achieve mutual fondness by the end.”
The final solo video image of Ms. Huang comes as Mr. Milchick tosses her the rubber ball at the precise moment he says the conspicuous words “Toxic work environment.” Odder yet, the training video ends with a potential riddle uttered by Ms. Huang, who states: “The Mouth Which Is Busy Smiling Cannot Bite.” Between the tantalizing enigma, Lumon’s toxic work environment, and the severance program’s 127 steps toward ultimate glee, it seems as though Ms. Huang has a lot more up her sleeve inSeveranceSeason 2. Whether she graduates from Wintertide Fellow to Deputy Manager, it’s clear that something strange is going on with her and Mr. Milchick on the severed floor whenthe mind-bending sci-fi showprogresses.Severanceis available to stream onAppleTV+.
