The Rise of Team Conrad

A fandom divided indeed. Books aside for one second, the love triangle established in both seasons ofThe Summer I Turned Prettycould not have drawn a bigger line between those who are Team Conrad and those who are Team Jeremiah. Of course, the devastating conclusion of the show’s second season leaves audiences with a heartbroken Conrad as Belly finally makes her decision, choosing to be with Jeremiah. However, what seemed to be the ideal happily ever after ending for #Jelly fans, there might be something else in store for Season 3.

An Entertaining Love Triangle

The plots in Jenny Han’snovels are not 100% canon. However, there are some unresolved issues among these characters that still have to play out, and it looks like the fall of Team Jeremiah and the rise of Team Conrad are on the horizon. Fans are looking forward to seeing Han’s novel come to life.

Those in Team Conrad have their fingers crossed that Conrad will be endgame for Belly. Well, that means Belly, however dedicated she is to Jeremiah, will always hold a special place in her heart for Conrad and this plot point could very well be explored in the third season. They are infinity, after all, right?

I Think I Wanna Marry You

No matter which boy you think is Belly’s true love, you should be excited about the possibility of wedding bells! After a whirlwind season two,The Summer I Turned Prettyreally set up a dramatic and heartwrenching final season. In season 2, audiences got to witness glimpses of Belly’s relationship with Conrad and how the entire thing fell apart, leaving Belly to pick up the pieces of her own heart.

However, when she replenishes her relationship with Jeremiah, she finds herself falling head over heels for him. To wrap it up, Belly is with Jeremiah and Conrad is heartbroken and alone. However, what brings people together like a wedding?

The Summer I Turned Pretty

A Looming Wedding

In the novels, Jeremiah Fisher cheats on Belly while they’re in college. To stop her from breaking it off with him, he proposes. And, she says yes. With this wedding looming over everyone as a central plot point of the third book, fans of the franchise are dying to see it all play out on screen. The real question in regards to the show will be simple: who is Belly going to see when she walks down the aisle?

Susanna Flashbacks

As fun, innocent, and lightheartedThe Summer I Turned Prettyis, Susannah, Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother, is a sensitive topic. Susannah, played by the lovely Rachel Blanchard, and Laurel, played by the stunning Jackie Chung felt like the best TV moms we all could ask for.

Throughout the entire first season, Susanna stood there like the foundation of everything these characters stood on. She was like the glue, the calm in the chaos, the magic of Cousins. However, the Season 1 finale left us bawling our eyes out when it is revealed that Susannah’s cancer had returned.

A Much-Needed Crutch

In the second season, Susannah passed away and the show incorporated flashbacks from when she was still alive when relevant to the show’s plot. With the relationships between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah strained beyond belief, Susannah’s presence in the new season would be needed as a crutch, a reason why these characters find their way back to each other. It worked in Season 2, it would be great to see it in Season 3.

A #Staylor Happily Ever After

The second season of this show is messy. The love triangle at its heart gave us conflicting emotions where, at times, we could not be Team Conrad, Team Jeremiah, OR Team Belly. However, a truly bright light in the show’s background is the emerging relationship between Steven and Taylor. Other than fulfilling the “Best Friend’s Brother” trope, these two characters slowly grew to become the best couple of the second season. What do we want to see in season 3? Their happily ever after.

A Perfect Relationship

Unlike Belly’s cloudy love life with the Fisher brothers, these two are just it for each other. They provide some much-needed comic relief, and they have such a gentle and endearing relationship that it feels like a breath of fresh air in all the chaos. Looking forward to the new season, #Staylor has got to stay strong.

Never Enough Cam Cameron

In the novels, the lovely Cam Cameron (David Iacono) did not play a role outside of the first book. However, the show gave the people what they wanted. In the first season ofThe Summer I Turned Pretty, Belly is ready for a summer of new possibilities. Among those possibilities is a cute, local boy named Cam, coined Cam Cameron by Jeremiah. Although the two find chemistry, it just wasn’t meant to be. Luckily for Cam Cameron stans, he makes a return in Season 2, joining the main group to save the beach house.

We Want More Cam!

Once Cam no longer became a contender for Belly’s heart, he became the owner of audiences'. Cam is the sweetheart of the group. He was a funny, endearing, and loyal friend. The side character quickly became a fan-favorite in the series. If Season 3 is set to impress fans, Cam Cameron needs a place in it.

A Soundtrack to Define the Summer

One thing thatThe Summer I Turned Prettyhad consistently excelled at throughout the 2 seasons wasthe show’s soundtrack. This show has had some epic musical moments that forever altered brains. From the ICONIC use of Taylor Swift’s “The Way I Loved You” in Season 1 to the epic “Party in the USA” dance in Season 2, music has been an aspect of this show that makes it truly stand out.

Looking forward to the release of Season 3, fans are gearing up for a show soundtrack to define their summers. If the third season can even come close to evoking the devastation of hearing Phoebe Bridgers’s “Funeral” during Susannah’s diagnosis reveal in season 1 or the euphoria of hearing “This Love” by Taylor Swift when Belly and Conrad finally kiss for the first time, audiences would be satisfied.
