The Witcheris Undergoing a Drastic Change
Henry Cavill ledThe Witcherfranchise for the series' first two seasons before ultimately leaving the role. Now, Liam Hemsworth is set to take over the part of Geralt of Rivia, a drastic change for a series in the middle of its run.Cavill released a statementfollowing his exit, congratulating Hemsworth on the new role.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill stated in a statement via social media. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
The reception hasn’t been great following Cavill’s departure, with afan petitionrequesting to keep the actor in the role receiving hundreds of thousands of signatures. Unfortunately, it seems as though Cavill is completely done with the Geralt, though fans can look forward to an increased presence from the actor in the future of the DCU.
