Several of these casting announcements had already been revealed, but it is always nice to get some confirmation fromNetflixthemselves. One of the most exciting additions isGame of ThronesstarKristofer Hivju as Nivellen, a character from an aristocratic family who was cursed for crimes he committed when he was much younger.

He has typically been compared to the Beast fromBeauty and the Beastand it is rumored he will be appearing as early as the first episode of the second season. Hivju emerged as one of the stand-outs amongst the huge ensembleGame of Thronescast, and it will be exciting to see what he brings toThe Witcher.

Alongside Hivju we have Bullion and Atour’s casting as the Witchers Lambert and Coën. Together, they help train Ciri while she stays at the Witcher stronghold, and their inclusion suggests that season 2 will further explore the history of the Witchers.

Oddly, there is no mention ofGeralt’s mentor, Vesemir, in this announcement. The role was allegedly offered to both Michael Keaton and Mads Mikkelsen, however, they each declined. There were then rumors that Mark Hamill was being offered the part, but so far these have amounted to nothing. In any case, it has been reported that Netflix is looking to fill the role with a big star.

The second season ofThe Witcheris set to be eight episodes long, picking up where season 1 left off with Geralt of Rivia and Cintra crown princess Ciri have finally come together and are destined to cross paths with Yennefer of Vengerberg in the foreseeable future.

The Witcherseason 2 is due to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2021. No doubt it will continue the huge success of the first season. This comes to us fromNetflix streaming app.
