The uproarious comedyThis Is the Endfamously features Seth Rogen and his merry band of stoner misfits as they attempt to survive the apocalypse. After James Franco throws a wild housewarming party with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars in attendance, a biblical apocalypse begins to unfold outside the celebration, and it doesn’t take long until death and destruction spread like wildfire. When the dust settles, Seth and James are left seeking shelter with fellow funnymen Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, andJonah Hill.

The actors hilariouslyappear as fictionalized versions of themselves, and Hill is given arguably the most entertaining counter-persona in the flick, as he is portrayed as being arrogant and extremely fake while trying to uphold a wholesome, America’s sweetheart image that eventually begins to slip.

This is the End

Hill delivers an unforgettable and side-splitting performance as himself, once again demonstrating that despite starring in acclaimed dramas likeMoneyballandThe Wolf of Wall Street(for which he earned Oscar nods),comedy will always be his true home and one of his greatest strengths. In honor of the ten-year anniversary ofThis Is the End,let’s take a look back at some of Jonah Hill’s best moments in the flick.

7Jay and Jonah Exchange “Pleasantries”

Declared “the nicest guy in the world” by Seth, the skeptical Jay still doesn’t buy Jonah’s act and thinks he’s being fake and putting on a show for others to make himself look better. The overly touchy, extremely complimentary Jonah goes in to hug Jay multiple times (holding on uncomfortably long) throughout the exchange and laughs at Jay’s sarcastic joke about how his arms were tired from flying to L.A., further grating on Jay’s nerves. When Seth reveals they engaged in some good-ole fashion debauchery involving smoking marijuana (an unsurprising move for the lovable stoner Seth), Jonah hilariously declares “weed is tight” in a somewhat placating way where he’s also trying to look cool and hip.

6"Bang Bang"

When the guys decide to take stock of their inventory and see what supplies they have leftto survive the apocalypse, Franco shows off a gun he took home from one of his past movie sets. After loading bullets into it, he passes it off to Jonah (causing the rest of the gang to rightfully get squirmy) who proceeds to tease them over their nervous behavior by pointing the gun at each of them while jokingly saying “bang bang.” Much to the shock and horror of his friends, Jonah then goes so far as to put the gun to both his head and in his mouth, mocking their attitudes and showing no fear of playing around with the weapon.

5Jonah Impersonates Woody Harrelson

Bored out of their minds and wanting to pass some time while they wait out being rescued, Seth, Franco, and the rest of the gang decide to act out and film a potential sequel toPineapple Express,in which Jonah amusingly imitatesthe great Woody Harrelson(the villain of the hypothetical flick). Watching the funnymen get a little (or a lot) high was deeply entertaining as they ran around Franco’s house like little kids acting out the story which had Seth and Franco’s characters Dale and Saul being forced to take out Harrelson, so he can’t legalize marijuana. All the actors inThis Is the Endhave off-the-charts chemistry, and it was enjoyable to see them seemingly let loose and have fun.

4Late Night Prayer Confession

As the black comedy progresses, audiences begin to witness Jonah’s “nice guy” veneer begins to slip up, and his extreme disdain for Jay to surface, which is revealed as he lays in bed for the night to say a prayer. Side-splittingly questioning why God made Jay and what got messed up during the process, Jonah voices his intense hatred for Jay and even says he’s the worst person ever created.

During his late-night confession, Jonah pleads for God to kill Jay repeatedly, saying that it would be “so tight” if he did. Jonah’s secretly nasty attitude towards his perceived enemy and his spiteful begging for Jay to die results in God punishing him and sending an incubus to deliver retribution for his hateful actions.

3Midnight Visitor

After showing his true colors and proving that Jay’s suspicions were right all along, Jonah ultimately gets his comeuppance for his covert opinions and negative attitude toward Jay. His begging and pleading with God to kill Jay while trying to come off as virtuous and selfless backfired in spectacular fashion, as Jonah isvisited by an incubusin the middle of the night and sexually assaulted by the terrifying beast. Jonah’s punishment for his conniving behavior and unpure actions leads to him being aware of the incubus' presence during the attack which eventually causes him to become possessed by the nefarious entity.

2Video Confessional

After the horrific and unsettling events of the previous night, Jonah is at a loss for words when he sits down to do a video confessional and is noticeably shaken. He starts off the sitdown by staring into the distance in disbelief before mustering up the energy to admit that something “not that chill” happened last night, failing to elaborate any further due to his own apparent shock. The guys and their wild video confessionals were fun for audiences to watch and seeing Jonah’s wholesome facade begin to disappear and his true more devious personality emerge was a riot, especially since all the actors were poking fun at and playing fictionalized versions of themselves.

1The Exorcism of Jonah Hill

In arguably one of the funniest scenes in the whole entire comedy, Jonah becomes fully possessed by the incubus that assaulted him and targets a frightened Seth and Franco. After realizing their friend has been replaced by a Latin-speaking, demonic entity, the lovable pals take off running to hide after Jonah tries to attack them and vomits something disgusting all over them. They decide a closet is the best hideout (haven’t they seen any horror movie ever?) and Seth’s loud and intense breathing causes them both to panic as Jonah comes menacingly looking for them.

After fleeing once again when unsurprisingly being discovered, Jay and Craig return, and Jay fittingly knocks Jonah out after seeing the terrified faces of Seth and Franco. The guys proceed to perform “The Exorcism of Jonah Hill” and tie him to bedposts, with Jay ad-libbing the dialoguefromThe Exorcistwith the help of a cross made up of cutlery to try and “compel the power of Christ” and make the demon leave Jonah’s body. Chaos naturally ensues, with Jonah catching on fire and relentlessly chasing them down in one final act.
