Earlier today,Mark Wahlbergheld a Q&A session with his fans on Facebook Live, to promote his new movieDeepwater Horizon, which hits theaters on September 30. He teased a big surprise for another new project,Transformers 5. When asked about the upcoming movie, he revealed there are just a few weeks left in production, before stating that fans will “go crazy” for the Mini-Dinobots. Here’s what he had to say during the Q&A session below.
“Right now we’re shooting in London. I’m in New York City right now, doing some press forDeepwater Horizon, then I’ll fly back to London to finish up the last couple of weeks onTransformers 5. It’s a cool new story, it’s kind of like a man on the run. SirAnthony Hopkinsis also in the film. We got a cool new cast, cool new robots, cool new villains and some cool new Dinobots. I think you guys are really going to go crazy for the Mini-Dinobots.”
While he wouldn’t go into more detail on hisFacebookvideo, hopefully we’ll get to see these Mini-Dinobots soon. DirectorMichael Bayhas often shared videos and photos from the set through social media throughout production, but it remains to be seen when we’ll get our first official look at the Mini-Dinobots. With production winding down, perhaps we could see the first trailer soon, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
It’s worth noting that a report surfaced in 2014, beforeTransformers: Age of Extinctionhit theaters, which teased that theDinobotswould appear in that project, plus two more movies. That report didn’t have any mention of the Mini-Dinobots, but we did get our first look at the massive full-sized Dinobots inAge of Extinction. How these Mini-Dinobots fit into the story remains to be seen, but the production has yet to release an official synopsis or other story details quite yet.
It was recently confirmed that this sequel will have some sort of connection to the iconicKing Arthur(Liam Garrigan) and Merlin (Santiago Cabrera). The story reportedly follows Optimus Prime, who is searching for an artifact that is rumored to be connected to this medieval era.Michael BaydirectsTransformers: The Last Knightfrom a script byArt Marcum,Matt HollowayandKen Nolanwith Paramount setting a August 22, 2025 release date.
