Back in June, just a few weeks after production started onTransformers: The Last Knight, directorMichael Bayunveiled the first look at a new robot in disguise, dubbedSqweeks, who was seen in a photo alongside the director and actressIsabela Moner. Today we have a new glimpse at Sqweeks, which confirms that this robot is an Autobot, and its name is spelled “Sqweeks” instead of “Squeeks” as originally believed. This robot is also described as “a human’s best friend”.
This photo debuted on the officialTwitterfor theTransformersfranchise, which recently posted a new photo ofDriftbefore this Sqweeks image. We have previously seen some of our favorite Autobots and Decepticons such as Megatron,Bumblebeeand Barricade. Production started in June, but we don’t know how long filming is set to last for.
The Last Knightcenters on Optimus Prime, who has been searching through the cosmos for the Quintessons, the beings believed to be responsible for the creation of theTransformersrace. Meanwhile back on Earth,Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager will be facing a new alien threat that bringsJosh Duhamel’s Lennox andTyrese Gibson’s Epps back into duty.Isabela Moneris playing the female lead, though no character details have been revealed.Jerrod Carmichael(NBC’sThe Carmichael Show) has also come aboard in an unspecified supporting role, possibly serving as this sequel’s comedy relief.
Rumors surfaced earlier this summer that reveal Optimus Prime is searching for an “artifact” on Earth that could help bring his home planet of Cybertron back to life. The artifact is reportedly tied to the magician Merlin from King Arthur lore, but these details were never confirmed. However, that report also first revealed that there would be a Vespa named Sqweeks, along with another Transformer named Cogman, who has a British accent and transforms into a luxurious Aston-Martin. Since we now have our first look at Squeeks, perhaps we’ll be seeing Cogman soon.
