We haven’t heard anything official regarding Showtime’sTwin Peaksrevival lately, butset photosstarted to surface last month in North Bend, Washington, with a report claiming that production would take place there for six weeks, before moving to Los Angeles. Showtime has yet to confirm that filming is under way, but today we have a new report fromDeadlinethat revealsJennifer Jason Leighhas joined the cast. The actress was spotted filming a scene in the Mojave Desert last night withKyle MacLachlan, while original series starSheryl Lee, who playedLaura Palmer, was also seen on the set.
The site also reports that series co-creatorDavid Lynchhas been trying to get A-list movie stars to join the cast, includingNaomi Watts. The actress actually had her big break in the critically-acclaimed 2001 filmMulholland Dr., directed byDavid Lynch. It isn’t known what other actors and actresses the filmmaker is seeking for roles inTwin Peaks.
As of now,Kyle MacLachlanis the only confirmedcast member, but there have been rumors that Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson),Sherilyn Fenn(Audrey Horne) andDana Ashbrook(Bobby Brooks) will reprise their roles as well.Amanda Seyfriedis rumored to be playing a brand new character, possibly the daughter of Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham). Other rumored new cast members include Balthazar Getty,Robert Knepper,Robert ForsterandPeter Sarsgaard.
It has been rumored thatRobert Forstermay be taking over for Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Harry S. Truman, since the original actor has long since retired from acting. There is also speculation that he may just be playing a new lawman character that has taken over for Truman. Another rumor claimed that Balthazar Getty may be playing an existing character, but no details have surfaced regarding his role, or any of the other new characters. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and with production already underway, hopefully Showtime will unveil official details soon.
David Lynchis directing co-wrote the series withMark Frost, with the writers creating one massive script that will be shot as one long movie. The show will later be broken up into installments after it is shot.
