It was a big weekend for Marvel TV atNew York Comic Con, but one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars had a big reveal in store for fans. Evangeline Lilly revealed that she will be joining up withThe Avengersin the near (ish) future. During an interview at the convention the actress made it clear that even though she won’t be inAvengers: Infinity War, she will appear in the as-of-yet untitledAvengers 4.

Evangeline Lillydid an interview withBlastrduring New York Comic Con and the subject of her role as Hope Van Dyne, aka The Wasp, naturally came up. While it may not come as a huge surprise, she did confirm that The Wasp will be fighting alongsideAnt-Manand the other Avengers (who make it out ofAvengers: Infinity Waralive) in an attempt to take down Thanos, or so we assume. Here is what she had to say about it.

“I’m excited because its essentially going to be, um, the origin of the Wasp. Of course, we’re going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle, and put on the suit, and fly about, and do her thing. Following that one, there’s an Avengers series coming out, I believe its a two parter, and, um, the Wasp won’t be in the first part, she’ll be in the second part because they want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

It is certainly exciting thatEvangeline Lillywas able to confirm her role inAvengers 4, but it is also worth looking at what she had to say aboutAnt-Man and the Wasp. As of right now theAnt-Mansequel is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2025. That would put it a couple of months after the release ofAvengers: Infinity War. While it isn’t clear how the timeline will play out in regards to those two movies, it makes sense that Marvel would want to save the reveal of the Wasp forAnt-Man and the Waspas opposed to trying to cram that into what will likely already be a jam packed movie.

Potential spoilers if you haven’t seenAnt-Manyet, but the Wasp suit was revealed to Hope Van Dyne by Hank Pym in the post-credit scene, which set up the character for the sequel. We only got to see the suit hanging up though and have yet to see the Wasp in action. According to whatEvangeline Lillyhad to say, we will be seeing her in full on superhero glory inAnt-Man and the Wasp, taking up the mantle from Janet Van Dyne who was the original Wasp. We don’t yet know if we will see Janet in the movie, but it would make sense given that the movie will focus heavily on the character of the Wasp.

Expectations were tempered forAnt-Manwhen it was released last year, given the semi-troubled production, but the movie was very well-liked by fans and critics. Fortunately for Marvel, that also translated to a pretty decent box office take of $519 million worldwide. We know very little about the upcomingAvengers: Infinity Warand the now untitledAvengers 4, so it is hard to guess how her character will factor into the movie. In any case, fans will likely happy to know that the Wasp will definitely have a larger role in the MCU in the future.
