A brand new trailer for the Disney+Willowseries arrived this weekend, giving an extended glimpse at the return of Warwick Davis’ heroic sorcerer Willow Ufgood. The series will arrive on Disney+ at the end of November, and it is not an exaggeration to say thatfans are really up for the belated sequelto Ron Howard’s 1988 movie. Returning in the title role over three decades after first playing Willow, Warwick Davis looks set to ignite the screen – literally – as the new trailer shows him brandishing a flamethrower and taking on more wicked creatures of the Western Continent.
The new “Special Look” trailer delivers a good idea of what can be expected from the series, and it really looks like the show is not only true to the original movie but also looks to expand on the world ofWillowin many ways. For those hoping that this series will not only be another adventure in the Western Continent, but the start of many, it doesn’t seem like they are going to be disappointed.

Warwick Davis is not the only actor to return for the sequel series, withJoanne Whalley, Kevin Pollack, and Rick Overton also reprising their original roles, while Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Dempsey Bryk bring some new characters to the story. One person who is absent from the list is Val Kilmer, but while the actor is seemingly not part of the ensemble, his character of Madmartigan will still be a big part of the show.

How Can Madmartigan be part ofWillowWithout Val Kilmer?
Although there arecertainly plenty of callbacks and reprisalsbeing promised forWillowfans, many would have loved to see the return of Val Kilmer in his role as Madmartigan. However, due to Kilmer’s health issues, it was not possible for him to star in this season, but producer Jonathan Kasden previously promised that his character is a “major figure” in the story.
“He’s a huge part of this story and this series. Val has been in communication with Joann [Whalley] and I and Madmartigan is a character in the story and what we didn’t get to shoot with him on Season 1, we’ve made him a major figure in the story.”
Of course, this comment in itself hints not only that the team behindWillowcertainly has plans for more than one season but also thatKilmer could still be part of the showsomewhere along the line. While the actor had a limited role inTop Gun: Maverick, it did give hope that we will see more from the star in the future, although how that would work in the fantasy setting ofWillowis something that would likely have to be worked out. For now, it seems that the legacy of Madmartigan will be carried on in the series by his daughter, and who knows whether that will lead to a Kilmer cameo somewhere down the line.
